RE the Facebook post I shared
“If you know someone is already taken, please respect their relationship. Don’t be the reason to start some drama
that’s not needed.”1
This quote reminds me of a
number of things.
I never felt that way in my
youth. If I wanted a man, I’d work my
wiles on him whether he’s married or committed to a woman. Now that I’m older, I don’t bother with
anyone who’s in a relationship whether it’s heterosexual or LGBT (lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender).
It was, apparently, my bias
against women that I would hit on a married or a committed man (but would
always avoid men in same-sex relationships).
However, even in those days, I wouldn’t hit on a man who is committed or
married to a female friend.2
Friends are friends regardless of their sexual orientation.
People do change, but some
things we’re adamant about (like holding LGBT relationships sacred).
Around two decades ago (I was
a medical student at the time; the guy was taking up an allied health course),
I went to a motel room with a very sexy (not necessarily handsome)3 man. He was already naked with his erection
glaring at me when he mentioned having a gay lover. I was undressing at the time. I asked him to repeat what he said. I heard it right the first time. I dressed myself, went out of the room and
told him not to worry about the room that had been paid for. He was shocked that I would respect a gay man
I didn’t even know. I was shocked as
well. I realized then that my beauty
queen’s crown had never been removed. Of
course, I wanked myself dry and silly when I got home.
Nagmumuni-muni at
nagmamaganda lamang po ang tumatandang bading (The aging gay man simply ponders
and bitches).
